    Notes
    • Elizabeth Parr is recorded in the 1871 census as the daughter of William Parr & Elizabeth nee Wells when the family were living in Opic Street, Everton, Lancashire. There is a considerable gap between the birth of Elizabeth T Parr, as she is recorded in a census, and her elder sister, also Elizabeth Parr, who was born in Hamilton Street, Deptford Kent in October 1859 and is with the family in Bow, London in 1861. This suggests that the elder Elizabeth would have died between 1861 and 1867/8 although no death registration has been found, nor oddly has a birth registration for the younger Elizabeth. The mystery deepens as when Elizabeth married Edward Charles House in 1888 her father was given as William Parr, a brush maker.  William Parr had been consistently recorded as a coppersmith throughout his life and would have been alive at the time of the marriage.  There seems little doubt, however, as to the relationship between Elizabeth and William & Elizabeth Parr nee Wells as Edward Charles House, known as Charles, is living with several members of the family at 1 Priory Street, Bromley St Leonard, London in 1901, shortly after Elizabeth, his wife, had died.  I have so far been unable to locate any of the House family in the 1911 census. It is possible that Elizabeth was "adopted" by William & Elizabeth because she named William Parr as her father on her marriage but with the wrong occupation. It is possible that Sarah Parr is her mother.
